Your first sale

From a fresh install to a printed receipt. Allow ten minutes the first time.

1. Set up the shop (once)

After you activate the plugin, a setup screen opens.

  1. Choose what kind of shop this is: grocery and convenience, fashion and footwear, or general retail. This cannot be changed later, so pick carefully.
  2. Type the shop name and the register name (for example "Register 1").
  3. Choose what receipt numbers start with. For example R1 gives receipts R1-000001, R1-000002 and so on.
  4. Press Finish.

More shops and registers can be added later under CodeBold POS → Shops & registers.

2. Open the till

  • Go to CodeBold POS → Open register and press Open the register. The till opens in a new tab.
  • The till lives at yourwebsite.com/pos/. Bookmark it on the counter device.
  • A checklist shows anything still missing, with a link to set it up.

3. Start your shift

  1. Choose which register you are on.
  2. Count the notes and coins in the drawer.
  3. Type the total into Cash in the drawer now and press Start my shift.

4. Make the sale

  1. Add products: scan a barcode, type in the search box, or tap one from Categories. On a phone or tablet you can also scan with the camera.
  2. If you need to, add a customer, give a discount, or hold the sale to serve someone else first.
  3. Press Pay and choose Cash, Card or UPI. UPI shows a QR code once your UPI ID is set in Register settings.
  4. For cash, type what the customer gave you. The till shows the change to give back.
  5. To take payment two ways (some cash, some card), use Split.
  6. Press Complete sale, then Print the receipt, and start the New sale.

The internet went off? Keep selling. The till saves sales on the device and sends them when the connection is back.

5. During the day

  • Add / take out cash records money put into or taken from the drawer.
  • Shift so far shows the day's sales up to now.
  • Any old receipt can be found and printed again.

6. End the day

  1. Press End my shift.
  2. Count the drawer and type Cash you counted (or use Count notes and coins to count note by note).
  3. The till compares it with Cash that should be there and closes the shift.
